Toddler leg pain

Tonight when putting my 2 year old to bed, he all of a sudden randomly started crying that his leg was hurting him. He pointed to his knee and shin and was limping on it when trying to walk. This episode lasted around 5 minutes and then he said it had gone and began walking normally and managed to fall asleep.
I am now spiralling thinking there could be something really wrong, has anyone else experienced anything like this with there toddler/child? Or should I be getting him to the drs?

Ah bless him. I would see how he is tomorrow, maybe he twisted his knee a little? Or had cramp in his calf? Hopefully a rest tonight and he’ll be right as rain x

Yes maybe it is something he has done earlier today, I was just worried with it coming on all of a sudden! Then google says it could be all sorts of awful things 😖 thank you so much! X

I had this with my toddler who is now 8 years old and still suffers intermittently. She is pretty tall in relation to her peers and we feel it’s simply down to growing pains, calpol or nurofen sorts it pretty quickly and effectively.

If she’s had a particularly busy day physically, the issue is almost certainly guaranteed to crop up.

I still remember pacing my bedroom in pain, whimpering, in the months after I got my first ‘big girl’ bed. The walking gave relief.

This happened on and off for a couple of years and was diagnosed as growing pains.

Also, we all have random one-off pains. DC are no different. Obviously check it out if it persists. Best wishes

Had this with my daughter when she was about six or seven. She limped into school and when she limped out at the end of the day I took her to A &E. After examining her and carrying out X-rays the conclusion was growing pains which she grew out of.

Aww thank you so much for checking back! He was actually sick that night but hasn’t been sick or complained of the leg pain since, so unsure if the sickness was related or just coincidence! I’m thinking he was either a little under the weather or maybe growing pains! I will keep an eye!! Xx

Thank you so much for your replies everyone! As an anxious mum it definitely made me feel better to know it sounds pretty common for little ones as they are growing! But will definitely keep an eye if it keeps happening 😊 x
