I’ve to have a scan of the womb and I just wondered what to expect?

Anyone else had a womb scan?

A transvaginal scan? I've had a few. They basically insert a slim probe inside you and they move it around and take images. Usually lasts about 10 minutes if they get what they need in terms of capturing scans to be reviewed. In my experience it doesn't hurt.

She didn’t say if it was transvaginal she just said a scan of your womb.

@DiaryofWimpy what's it for? If its for excessive bleeding etc to check the thickness of the endometrium it is likely to be a transvaginal scan of your uterus and ovaries.

Unfortunately I’ve had many TV scans and as per PP, it doesn’t hurt but can be a little uncomfortable. The probe reminds me of ET’s finger 😂 You can still have them if you are on your period (tampon has to come out). They may well do an external ultrasound which you’ll need a full bladder for, then you have a wee, then they do the TV.
Do not assume the person doing the scan will be female, if that is important to you you’ll have to specifically request it. Most diagnostic imaging where I live has been outsourced to 3rd party companies who do not seem to employ women.

Yes will be TVS. It's super chill. No pain. I usually get to see the screen at the same time which is fascinating.

Yes, as PP said it will be a TVS. You'll then get a call with the results at a later date.
