Broken (I think) toe

Hi just looking for anyone that’s done similar. Last night I opened the kitchen door over my foot (ouch!)

As the evening went on it hurt more and more and was getting difficult to walk, it was also swollen. I put on an ice pack and took ibuprofen. I tried buddy taping it, but that made it hurt a lot more so took it off.

Today it’s pretty purple/black (first photo this morning, second photo just now) and while it’s a bit uncomfy and I’ve had to wear crocs all day, nothing like the pain last night. I tried buddy taping it again but again, it hurt a lot more.

Does it look “normal”? Is there anything else I should be doing?

Continue doing as you are. Nothing else to be done for a broken toe unfortunately

I broke a toe by running into a sofa. Awful pain for about a day and a crooked toe ever since. I didn't know about buddy taping (was about 30 years ago).

I can't see your photos yet.

I had a very similar injury and that does look likely to be broken to me.

The comments about taping it together are right but I’d also advise getting an x-ray to check the bones aren’t displaced. It’ll probably be a hairline fracture which will heal
OK with home remedies but if it is a clean break you really want to make sure the 2 pieces are aligned when you strap them together. The hospital will do it for you in a few mins.
