Can I ask

At what level kidney function did it start affecting you and how you felt?

I’ve got CKD 3b and I have no symptoms if that helps you. I was completely unaware that I had CKD until I had a routine blood test.

I got to eGFR of 6 before I had to admit I wasn’t quite as energetic as I used to be. I was supposed to start dialysis at home and they delivered all the equipment. But I really didn’t get on with it and I had a live donor lined up so they let me go on a couple of months until I had my transplant without dialysis.

I was prescribed diuretics by my former GP - since retired - for high blood pressure and they caused the damage to my kidneys. I had a review with my new GP who waffled about how guidelines had changed and stopped the tablets and confirmed my CKD with a blood test. Again, I have no symptoms.

I’m currently undergoing tests for possible mild ckd, please can I ask whether you were given any advice on how to manage the condition? I believe it can be arrested by careful diet/cutting down on salt/alcohol and exercise?
