ok at 4 months my dd was taken into hospital after having seizures for the first time. she was in hospital over a week and went for several scans. she had eeg where she fitted here and was diagnosed with west syndrome (infantile spasms). she then went for brain scan which thankfully came out clear with no brain development problems. she was given medicine and took about a month to start working, after upping the dose the medicine worked she now has no pasms at all, the one thing that concerns me is that the medicine has lots of bad side effects which included blinding of both eyes. nowas they informed me she could grow out of this kind of epilepsy i asked them to check her agauin after 5 months, she went to see doctor who said she is loking really well, but there is only a 5% chance that she ill recover completly other wise she will stop her spasms and it will be replaced by another kind of seizure she also said she would start to weabn her of medicine to see how she gets on. she went for another eeg scan epilepsy nurse just phoned and said it s come back clear. i am over the moon, i am convinced she is in the 5% to recover. am i being too positive.
