i have a crap nurofen ear thermometer - the one that plays music when you take their temp. anyway i just took my own ear temperature - 35.8 which didn't seem right to me so i tried it in my armpit and it said 36.4 which sounds more realistic. took ds' ear temp - 37.2 which is ok but it was 38.1 in his arm pit. now i don't know whether to give him any calpol or not. cos it's an ear thermometer would that mean readings taken elsewhere aren't reliable?

if it's an ear thermometer use the ear reading! Temperatures are slightly different in the mouth, ear and armpit.

Personally I wouldn't fret about his temperature - if you can't feel it with your hand on his forehead it can't be that bad. If he is feeling poorly give him some ibuprofen, if he is fine and dandy let him alone

but does 35.8 not seem rather low?
