Suddenly started getting multiple styes?

Hi folks,
I understand this is a medical issue, waiting for a triage call, but just curious if anybody else has had this problem?

Suddenly started getting multiple styes in both bottom eyelids, also had one underneath the top lid a while ago which was extremely red and swollen and very painful. I have been putting hot compress on, but the bottom one's will not clear entirely, this all started about 6 weeks ago and has now prompted me to get this checked.

Is this something that has happened to others here at all? Any advice of anything that may help in the meantime? Just can't understand why this has just started out of the blue. Don't wear eye make up at all and not sure what could have caused it.
Thank you

It's likely that you have a type of eyelid inflammation called blepharitis, specifically the type which causes blockages in the meibomian glands in the eyelids. These supply lipids to the tear layer.

There is a good leaflet here

I don’t know the reason but if it keeps happening then get help from GP, they can prescribe ointment.

Don't do what I did. I ignored it for months and now I have a tear duct blockage and need surgery.

On the occasions I get styes I use Brolene cream. It's available off prescription and offers immediate relief. My gran would say rub your eye with your wedding ring. Something to do with the gold having an effect on it.

Stress, allergies (including hayfever) and hormonal changes can trigger blepharitis and gland disfunction (blocked oil glands which end up swelling into chalazions - these are not styes).
I suffer with it and it's miserable. It's worth trying fexofenadine which is an antihistamine. I've had real success with that as well as daily lid margin cleaning.
