Terry's nails

Please help, I have terrible HA and now my mind is spiralling!

I'm convinced I have Terry's nails on some of my toenails, please see image. It's more obvious on my middle toenail but I can also see it a bit on other toenails. This is recent as I would have noticed it before. I'm now so worried about heart failure. 9 months ago I had bloods where liver and kidney came back fine , so focusing on heart because I've also noticed being more tired lately.

The pics might not be that clear but there is definitely a red/brown band at the tip of the middle toenail and the rest of if is pale. (Ignore the brown vertical line you see, I have that on a few nails due to race and it's been checked out by doc). Also similar thing on second toenail

Does anyone have similar toenails where it hasn't turned out to be a cardiac issue? Waiting on GP appointment

Nah, I bet your nails have always looked this way

Mariana1139 · 10/07/2026 10:20

I don't think they have though. I have a tendency to be anemic but not sure it's that..

Doesn’t look like terrys nails to me

JimBobsWife · 10/07/2026 10:39

I think you need to focus on your health anxiety.

Lacharcuterie · 10/07/2026 10:41

I can see what you mean. But mine also looks the same and so do lots of people. When I have seen Terry's nails it's not like this. It's like the difference between sand and sea. Try not to panic.

@Lacharcuterie thank you for your message, that's really helpful to know. Are you a healthcare professional if you have seen Terry's nails? I do have HA but because I'm sure my nails weren't like this before I can't but worry

Those are completely normal nails. Your problem isn’t heart failure; it’s health anxiety.

Op please seek help for your anxiety, as no amount of reassurance will ever help you. A therapist will help you learn how to live with the uncertainty and talk yourself down and give you coping mechanisms. I've been through it (not health anxiety but I was reassurance seeking) and am much better after therapy.
