I am absolutely terrified not of the GA but the Cystoscopy leaving me in more pain.

I have heard this can make your symptoms worse.

I’ve had one and it didn’t make anything worse. It was a tad sore after but nothing a bit of rest didn’t sort.

I had one with only anaesthetic gel and it was fine. Didn’t make my symptoms worse.

Did you have awful burning when peeing afterwards.

I have. Weirdly it made my symptoms a lot better and touch wood I haven’t had an issue since. The doctor thought that the fluid used to stretch the bladder cleared out any bacteria that had been lurking and causing the constant utis.

I’ve had one, over 10 years ago. Personally I found it so uncomfortable that, according to my medical notes, my heart rate went up hugely even under GA. I came around after the operation screaming. With some stronger pain killers I think it abated though.

Anaesthetist PoV... what it's like post-op depends quite a bit on why it's being done/what they end up needing to do. They should be able to explain that & what sort of painkillers they'd normally expect to send you home with.
