I’ve had cold symptoms for almost 3 weeks starting with vertigo then sore throat etc , I’ve now been having pressure in my face for a week now (particularly my forehead , bridge of nose and cheek bones.) I don’t have a runny nose but feel very congested and stuffy. Just feel generally unwell and fatigued that I’m finding it hard to do normal daily activities.
my doctor diagnosed me over the phone and gave me a nasal spray and 100mg doxycycline to take once a day for 5 days but it’s done nothing.
(I will be phoning the doctors tomorrow to get a face to face appointment)

please when does this horrible infection go away 😢

Have you tried an antihistamine? Sinusitis veteran And sometimes this starts to shift it. You can also put some pressure on your face with fingers starting at your eyebrows nearest nose. Massage along your eyebrows and it can lessen the pressure.

Longest I've had was 5 months...

Most acute sinusitis cases (shorter than 12 weeks) are viral and self-limiting so might be why the abx havent done anything. Keep super hydrated, decent decongestant (pseudoephedrine not phenylephrine) and sinus nasal rinses might help settle it quicker. Feel for you though, its miserable.

I second the recommendation for pseudoephedrine. If my sinuses flare up I have to have five days of that to shift it. I buy the Actifed version which has an antihistamine as well.

@Cr20 I have exactly the same pattern of cold etc. that you had. And now have the sinus pressure which came along the minute I felt better from the other symptoms!

I cannot take any anti histamines for other medical reasons, so am a bit stuck and out of sorts. However..... I got Sterimar salt spray and sniffed it into me as often as I could especially first thing in the morning and last thing at night. I held my head over a bowl of hot steamy water, to which I added Vicks. It is easing off a bit after two weeks of hell, but not gone completely. A big thing I found that helped was to have a fan on all night by my bed. I don't know whether there are irritants in the air or what, but that seems to have helped a lot.

I didn't go to the GP with it. But if it gets worse I will.

It's an awful feeling, I sympathise.
