Hip pain

Bad, clicky joints run in our family (thanks mum) but for a while I've been having problems with my right hip. It's a dull aching pain although I get a sharp pain through it when I'm walking sometimes (almost like a sharp grinding feeling). It's quite stiff when going up stairs and getting into and out of the car and getting to the point where I can't have sex as it aches too much. I've an appt at the docs next wk but not holding out much hope as I've found them worse than useless in the past.

What on earth is it as it's not swollen or tender or anything? I had a baby six months ago and I don't know if this has anything to do with it. I'm only 29 but starting to feel like an old woman and it's getting me down a bit. Does anyone have any experience of this or anything I could do to help it?

SPD actually had crossed my mind but thought it would affect both sides if it was. Also can't remember it bothering me when I was preg.

Seem to be posting on all the threads about aching joints tonight! I have arthritis in my hips, I've had it siince I was about your age, it went off when I was pregnant but came back recently. I had some physio which helped a lot and I have a sheet of excercises to do when it aches a lot. I find its worse after walking (I do loads), driving or sitting cross legged on the floor. Go and see the doctor, it may not be what I have, but physio has certainly helped me.
PS I feel like a right old bird as well!

My ds is 23 mths and I've been suffering with hip pain ever since he was born.

I'd go and talk to your GP about it. Could be early signs of arthritis, or a hangover from the weird hormones of pregnancy/birth, or an injury you weren't even aware of.

I had secondary osteoarthritis in my right hip and the pain sounds very similar as does the stiffness- that's not meant to scare you but I would go and ask for investigations to be made just in case. I had a right hip replacement aged 19 and no probs now really! (I really am an old lady!!!)
