Toothache! Give me hope…

Argh… Toothache started yesterday morning. Managed to get an emergency appointment this morning - tooth needs to come out apparently. No issue there from me!

They’ve given me antibiotics (amoxicillin) and won’t see me before Thursday to even discuss the appointment to take it out to give the antibiotics time to work. I know I know it’s too early for the antibiotics to work… but it’s agony!!! It might start to feel better tomorrow right…????

Hopefully tooth ache is the worst do you have any whiskey in the house not to drink but just to swirl around your mouth you will get instant relief

Clove oil is your new best friend!! It’s amazing!!!

RumNotRun · 15/06/2026 21:16

Oragel is the best thing ever. You can get 10% or 20% on Amazon. I think Boots only do the 10%. It totally numbs your tooth/gum. If you also take one paracetamol and one ibuprofen then by the time the oragel wears off, the painkillers have kicked in. Obviously don't exceed the recommended dose.

Just make sure to apply it carefully - with a cotton bud is best. You don’t want it on your skin or gums if possible as it is potent. It’s incredible stuff though - and I bet if you did a Facebook plea, someone ln your vicinity will have a bottle lurking in their bathroom cabinet

Ask who? A dentist can’t prescribe it and what use is an antidepressant for an infection?

Amitriptiline is used for chronic pain, such as neuropathy, but you are correct. No one would prescribe it for toothache.
