dd2 4 started with chicken pox last thursday,

She is covered and has a slight temp, she has aboout 5 spots which are very large one on her back which is raised in a lump and about the size of a ten pence piece.

So is this normal? can't remember its along time since the other two had it,

just slightly worried the spots are infected, nearly lost her when she was 2,
due two a skin infection so ever so slighty over protective.

oh, keep an eye on it. My sister's DS got an infection in some of his CP (some sort of stapphococcus) and ended up in hospital for a week.

draw round the mark so you can keep an eye on it and see if it's getting bigger. Have you got any antibiotic cream that you can put on it for the time being.

I'd take her to the docs tomorrow to be on the safe side as I think her temp should have settled by this time.

Thanks, have some fusidin (sp) cream I think, temp coming down with nurofen.

May just ring the nurse in the morning to double check really hope its not infected go in to cold sweats thinking about it.

Mine have just finished cpox, & none of their spots were that big, I'd say (dd got one infected, but we doused it in tea tree oil & it was fine by the morning...)
I'd see the GP in the morning just in case

I don't want to scare you but I would say keep an eye on her. My friend's DD got an infected spot when she had chicken pox and ended up on iv antibiotics for a week with cellulitis. She is absolutely fine now but was pretty sick at the time. In the 8 hours or so before she was admitted we noticed a)she was really lethargic and hot which did not improve with nurofen and b)the area around the infected spot became very swollen. You say her temp is coming down so that's a good sign, just keep an eye out.

thanks I will, just finishing a 12 hour night shift can't wait to get home.

How is she LGoR? I hope things are better today

My DD has just had chicken pox, and the first few spots to appear were huge, but the later ones were "normal" size.

CarGirl · 24/06/2008 11:31

Just seen this, please take her to the drs asap. My dd is being treated for strep A and currently has chicken pox - I only found out yesterday that Strep A can be a killer, I am so thankful that they finally diagnosed strep A and is already getting treatment.

thanks all she's so much better today the large spots have gone down alot and she hasn't had a temp at all today.

So think she's over the worst of it, keeping a close eye on her though.
