TW - sensitive photo. Miscarriage or clot?

Apologies for the graphic photo, might take a while to be approved.

DD 18 has just passed this. She had some cramping but has been also really unwell with a stomach bug so tricky to
know what the pain is connected to.
Only a little bleeding.

She is on the patch but terrified she may have been pregnant. Does it look like a foetus?

I don’t think a pic attached? I still can’t see it anyway.

Get her to do a pregnancy test, the hormones will still be detectable at this stage if she was actually pregnant.
It’s really hard to identify miscarriage material until several weeks pregnant tbh, it’s all mostly just clots, in which case I’d assume she would have had suspicions about actually being pregnant.
A foetus isn’t identifiable in mc material until around 8 weeks gestation. I did see a pregnancy sac in one of my MC when 6 weeks pregnant, it’s the size of a little fingernail, so if she has anything larger than that, then it’s likely just tissue and clots, not a mc.

Ok so probably about 2 inches long. Weirdly almost like a sea horse of sorts - long with a slightly bulbous area at one end

I am no expert but looks like a clot to me (a chunk of lining)

OnceYoureToastYouCanNeverBeBread · 31/05/2026 19:32

If it was 2 inches long she would be approximately 12 weeks pregnant, so I’m guessing it’s just clots.
A pregnancy test would let you know for sure because for 12 week’s pregnant, the hormones would still be detectable for several weeks. I tested positive for 6 weeks when I had a mc at 7 weeks.

I can now finally see the picture. That’s not a mc ime

Just looks like a piece of womb lining to me. They sometimes come out in bigger pieces, or even all in one piece.

Hope your daughter is okay.

Deadleaves77 · 31/05/2026 19:44

It looks like uterine lining, not a miscarriage

Stoicandhappy · 31/05/2026 19:47

I agree with PP she will need to do a pregnancy test to know for sure. 💐

Puddleduck2013 · 31/05/2026 19:58

Thank you All, that sounds reassuring. @OnceYoureToastYouCanNeverBeBread I am so sorry you went through miscarriage.

If DD does a pregnancy test tomorrow will it still show anything on the off chance she was pregnant?

I had a Mac and passed the fetid and it didn’t look like this. My guess is this is womb lining. Hope your DD is ok.
