DS is having his braces fitted soon. I am a bit anxious about the pain because I suffered really badly from mouth ulcers as a teen. I’m planning to stock up on wax - are there any particularly good ones, or are they all much the same?

We found them all similar - bought a load off of Amazon! She only really used it the first couple of weeks - once she was used to them she didn’t really use it! Definitely stock up on the cocodamol for the first couple of days and also when you go for appointments and they tighten them!

I only saw one type in Boots.

Thank you. I have seen orthodots highly recommended, but they are so expensive! Thanks for the tip about painkillers. I’ll stock up.

I bought the wax at the dentist.

Also cold drinks/ ice cream / ice cubes helped my dd. Paracetamol for the first day or two and stock up on food they like that’s easy to eat for the first few days when the mouth is sore.

I had Gishygoo when I had lingual braces - they could be very uncomfortable at times. I bought it from a dental supplies website. It was more expensive than wax but so much better.
