Thrush returning after fluconazole, can self-help measures be enough?

I’ve had 5 weeks of fluconazole. Since stopping I feel that my symptoms have come back. I’ve cut out sugar, have started taking symprove (probiotic), and have made my diet more varied. I’ve also bought oregano oil which is supposed to help. I’m wondering if the thrush will just go away with self help. I presume that I have thrush from taking lots of antibiotics. I suspect that the candida is also in other parts of my body.

You need to take another course of fluconazole followed by a maintenance dose. I feel your pain.

Is it definitely thrush? Have you been tested?

I thought I had thrush for years, to the point of being on long-term fluconazole for six months. It wasn’t - it was BV, and it was only when a very knowledgeable GP ordered different tests that we found out. A course of different treatment transformed my life, seriously.

Thanks, yes, I’ve been tested. And thanks for the advice on taking more fluconazole. My GP gave me 50mg daily last time. I felt ill by the end of it, I couldn’t think straight. This has put me off asking for more.

Try pulse therapy on itraconzole. Then a cream like lotriderm or trimovate.

What is pulse therapy?

You take it for a bit then stop then take it again. This is 15 years ago and it was for a nail infection but it sorted out the same issue you have. I think it is ten days. But then needed to go back and needed a cream to clear the irritation. Trimovate is steroid/anti fungal and / antibiotic
