I had a severely low haemoglobin ea4ly this year and had a blood transfusion of 4 units and iron infusion due to severe anaemia that is now resolved. Been and had loads of tests .Ct hysteroscopy mri gastro and all is but have heavy periods. It's due to insane heavy periods and I have two large ovarian cysts on each ovary. I weighed 8st 8lb start of year and have put a whole stone on since and now weigh 9st 8lb. On iron tablets. It all seems to be on my bum and legs and stomach. I do 10k of steps a day and eat healthy but the weight isn't shifting. Will have a hysterectomy soon will I gain even more weight after hysterectomy. I don't know what it is just felt awful and nothing I do helps.

Why do you think you will gain after hysterectomy?
I’m thinner now that I was in peri and my younger years, thanks to HRT and sticking to my TDEE calories.
I sympathise with the heavy periods though, I had Endo & fibroids, I was always anaemic and feeling dreadful.
I hope all goes well with your op and you have a speedy recovery. Not having those awful periods has been life changing!

Thanks and glad you feel better!
My colleague is quite a bit older than me and said 47 is ''too young!??'' she said a hysterectomy slows down your metabolism and you go into full blown menopause.🙄
Would you take HRT?
Feel awful atm = ovarian cysts bloating and awful water rentention bloating and sore boobs think ovarian cysts wreaking havoc as strted with backache too!
Think may hormones have something to do with this insane weight gain. Nothing fits.

I was early 40’s when I had my hysterectomy and yes, I absolutely would have HRT if having ovaries removed, it’s essential for bone protection to help prevent osteoporosis. Menopause does slow your metabolism down, so you need to eat less calories to prevent weight gain, but that’s the same with natural menopause or surgical menopause.
Honestly, it was just a relief to no longer suffer tbh.
