I'm going next week to have a breast cyst aspiration. I'm not sure what to expect. Has anyone had one? Does it hurt?
I have multiple cysts in both breasts but I am just having the largest 3 cm one drained I think.

ermm i havent had it done but my friend did last year she lost a lot of weight and discovered this lump worried herself sick over it her mum and dad paid for her to go private and she had it aspirated it did hurt her a bit and left a huge bruise i think lot of her pain came from worry and fear and she was v unprepared for it she did say the relief washed over her when it was done she was ok soon after tho.

good luck x

hi
I found a lump in my breast just over 2 weeks ago. I had an appointment on wednesday for investigations - planned mammogram etc etc.

Anyway go in to the consultant, I lay on the couch, he has a feel and says do you mind if I stick a needle in?
Ok I said.
I had my eyes shut and he stuck a needle in. It seemed like he pushed and prodded a bit, but not really painful.

A minute later he said for me to feel the lump - it was gone and he said it was a cyst and showed me a HUGE syringe full of liquid which he had drained out for me there and then.

It was a bit tender where he poked me but it was fine.

I think mine was quite easy to find and close to the skin, sometimes they have to use ultra sound scanners to locate them.

I am sure you will be fine too.

Thank you. I am having it done with ultrasound. I was hoping it wouldn't be too painful...I'm just a bit of a wuss when it comes to needles. It just seems to have taken so long to arrive at this point. It's over 6 weeks since I was first referred by my gp as an urgent referral. I will still have to wait for a further appointment with doctor to discuss the results of the tests I've had. I'm assuming all must be well so far or they would have called me back by now. I had the mammogram and ultrasound 3 weeks ago and have just got this appointment for aspiration. Hopefully this means they have found nothing other than cysts.
