Possible Crohn’s Disease?

I’ve been feeling ill for a while and continue to get worse. My symptoms are lower right sided abdominal pain, nausea, bloating, burping and general malaise. I’ve also lost a significant amount of weight. My son has Crohn’s and I had a calprotectin test which has come back at 1429. I’ve had a gastroscopy and colonoscopy and both were clear. Does this sound like Crohn’s?

How long ago were the tests? When is your next appt with your gastroenterologist?

Rowiegirl · 17/05/2026 11:28

My tests were a week ago. I’m currently in hospital. I’m now waiting for a small bowel MRI.

Ahhh, ok. You're where you need to be. My mum has Crohn's, currently she is "technically" in remission due to having had a small bowel resection. However, just spent 8 days in hospital due to bloating/gas/diarrhea ...all the signs it was back. No sign of it and the symptoms are gone after aggressive IV antibiotics then a course at home.
Wishing you answers and good care. 💐🩷

Thank you very much. Just need answers. Best wishes to your mum.

How are you doing now? 💐

Rowiegirl · 19/05/2026 20:05

Hi, I’ve been discharged from hospital, as they won’t do any further testing until the colonoscopy biopsies come back. I’m trying to get a private small bowel MRI. I feel absolutely awful and very worried about keeping going when I can barely eat. Thanks for asking.

All you can do is your best right now. Eat when you can and get rest. If you can afford a private mri, I'd do it. Is your GP pushing things for you? You need your GP to "quarter back" things. Be the squeaky wheel. Get a notebook to write everything down, too. It can become quite overwhelming trying to remember what was asked and said.

Good luck - my Calprotectin hovers around that number but I don’t have chrons! All biopsies normal.

Rowiegirl · 20/05/2026 09:44

Thank you. I’ve booked a private MRI. Just waiting to get date confirmed, but hope it’s soon. My GP is not helpful and very much agrees with the hospital. My husband is having a phone call with the hospital consultant tomorrow.

That's where my mum had it. I think it's the most usual location. Hang in there. 💐

Thanks so much. Feeling so down tonight. Xx

It’s an MRI enteroscopy that I’m having. Did you have high calprotectin when you had symptoms?

Are you still in hospital @Rowiegirl
