Lump and pain after ridiculous foot injury - need X-ray opinions!

Hello! A couple of weeks ago I got the most ridiculous injury, a big Radox shower gel bottle fell onto the top of my foot… It bruised and swelled quite a lot at the time but I was still able to walk on it so I didn’t think much of it.

Fast forward to now and the swelling and bruising has mostly gone, but I’ve been left with a hard, fixed lump right on the bone where it was hit. It’s become super tender and over the last few days it’s started aching more, especially when walking, and even waking me up at night!

I went to A&E (recommend by GP) and had an X-ray which came back clear (no fracture seen), but they did say something looked off on the X-ray and no one really explained what the lump itself might be…

Does anyone else have experience with this?! I’ve requested my imaging to show to a doctor friend but it just says “xray imaging The report will be available on 05 June 2026 at 20:38” - does that mean that’s the date and time the X-rays will be available to view?!

thank you in advance :)

If it is a soft tissue injury it won't show up on an x-ray so a scan would be better, but you are unlikely to get that on the NHS without a long wait, if at all.

That looks like a ganglion. They are big fluid filled cysts on joints which can be caused by an injury.

Please don't do what my DH did to get rid of one in almost the same place on my foot. He smashed it with a heavy hardback book. It disappeared then came back a few years later & needed surgery.

*the first photo is immediately after it happened and then the bruise that followed. Now I’m left with a hard lump, you can kinda see where it is in the bruise images - it’s where the white dot is

That first photo is immediately after it happened, it was swelling! That sounds very painful though wow!
