Has anyone had surgery for chronic Achilles tendon problems?

Has anyone had surgery for this? I have it in both achilles, right one is horrendous. Has been going on for many many years. Have had every treatment under the sun and nothing works.
So am interested in hearing from anyone that has had surgery - the process, did it work etc
