I have hundreds of moles and many do look odd to me. I’ve had 4 removed and all came back clear.

i cannot possibly keep track of them as I have so many so I pay £150 for an all over body check twice a year. They take photos of any new or unusual ones and can check them for changes at the next visit.

It gives me peace of mind and I’d thoroughly recommend it.

You have a serious mental health problem- not a mole problem. Please go back to your gp and tell them how bad your anxiety is.

They know that’s why I’m having cbt

I've got loads, not really bothered about them, I could have spent my life worrying but I'm nearly 70 now so past caring, I have had a couple of BCC removed and a few moles that were in uncomfortable places removed but that's it. I'm still here so nothing could be too bad

i go to my gp about four times a year and he checks them.

i dont think about them in between because i dont think they would get much worse during that space of time if they were dangerous.

if i could do the scan thing for a reasonable price i would but it’s dear.

I might have that many, I don't count. I had only 2 ever removed, only because they were ugly.

and do you check regularly

No. I don't check. I guess I would probably notice some of them if they actually changed. I also get seborrhic keratoses which can appear seemingly out of nowhere. SKs grow too fast to be moles/something malignant, then they go away again. My dad has had a melanoma & my aunt & cousin had some BCC (some of them redheads). I'm aware that skin can do unhelpful things. I am not a worryer, though.

OP: this is a mental illness you're dealing with. You'd be checking obsessively if U only had just 5 to check. The number you have or what other people do : those things don't matter to your illness. I hope you find a way to get better.

I try and rationalise that checking every day is pointless, even the lovely nurse who does my check told me that there is no need - you need to be looking out for changes over a period of time, and frankly if you check every day you wouldn’t notice.

Perhaps try and consider an annual check up, and limit yourself to checking yourself once a month? (which would actually be more useful)
