What on earth is causing this pain?!

For the past 24 hours I’ve had random spells of the sharpest stabbing pain in my wrist. Literally takes my breath away. My pinky finger goes numb and the pain goes up my arm. I literally stop in my tracks then after a few minutes the intensity dies down but it throbs for a while. Then ok. Then bam it’s back.

I’ve not injured it. There’s no bruising or swelling but fk me it hurts.

Is there a reason for it to happen? Or is it just random?

I'm no doctor but carpal tunnel or tendonitis have similar symptoms.

Carpal tunnel?

do you do a lot of repeated wrist movements?

typing for a long time, sport, etc?

Just random it seems. But then a few times it’s been when lifting something. But this is all new and out of the blue.

i thought carpal tunnel but that seems to mention numbness rather than this fracking stabbing pain!!

Compressed ulnar nerve.

But your finger went numb! It's pain and numbness sadly.

It definitely sounds nerve-related. You poor thing.

Ulnar nerve irritation… compression site could be at the elbow (try bending and straightening to see how symptoms react) or the neck (see if regular neck movements trigger it).
advice: see a physio
