About 3 months ago, I had a routine appointment at the dentist. She told me that my silver filling would eventually crack my tooth (upper back left) and that she recommended I have it taken out and replaced with a white filling instead. I agreed as she said it was inevitable eventually. It cost me £200. Since then my left upper back row of teeth has been painful. My teeth are 20 times more painful, I avoid eating and drinking on that side: it feels like the whole bank of teeth and gums throb daily. I wouldn’t say it is agony but I have taken ibuprofen on several occasions. I wasn’t in pain before this filling was replaced but I am now. After about 4 weeks, I returned to the same dentist who said she couldn’t see anything but if it stayed painful, she would perform a root canal. Two months later it IS still painful but I am scared of her making it even worse with a root canal. I have basically lost confidence in the dentist and the procedures she is suggesting. Are there any dentists out there who could advise? Thanks.
