Hayfever symptoms

I get hayfever every year generally just irritated nose and itchy eyes. Seems to have started early for me usually mid May my symptoms are worse.

This year my nose is awful - lots of mucus and blood so I’ve just bought Beconase started it today.

For the past couple of weeks also had an upset stomach not everyday but quite frequently. Is an upset stomach a symptom of hayfever too?

For hayfever what products do people recommend to take? Will Beconase be enough?

Hayfever seems to be getting worse for a lot of sufferers due to a longer and more intense pollen season (climate change). I'd visit the GP and explain how it's affecting you. My son suffers and is prescribed Avamys, which is a corticosteroid, alongside an antihistamine. It's honestly worked wonders and he's symptom free. He has suffered quite severe allergic reactions in the past, specifically to grass pollen.

Hi op. I'm asthmatic and have terrible year round allergies. However this spring is worse than I've been in years. I'm permanently covered in heat lumps and my excema is in a dreadful state.

I'm currently taking prescribed fexofenadine 180mg x4 a day on advice of GP. Not completely helping tbh. Have you tried this? You can buy it otc in 120mg dose.

I also use a prescribed steroid nasal spray called momethasone.

Also hycosan dry eye/allergy drops (the purple one) which is a lot better than optrex.

The next stop for me is Montelukast which I'm avoiding as I don't want to take the risk of the side effects.

It really sucks op!

I've had absolutely dreadful hayfever this year and so has my husband. It just makes you feel awful!!

FYI @Moveyourbleedingarsemontelulast has been amazing for me, don't let the risk of (uncommon) side effects put you off!

@bedfrog i can cope with the nightmares - I haven't had a good dream since I started HRT three years ago, every dream is horrible.

But I did suffer from horrible intrusive thoughts when I took Progesterone for MY HRT, plus awful PMT. And it was exhausting - and GP says this is a known side effect of montelukast. Have you had any thoughts like this?

You have my deepest sympathies, OP! It's awful being allergic to the outside world, isn't it? (Not to mention the inside one if people insist on bringing flowers indoors!). I've never heard of an upset stomach as a symptom of hay-fever, but it could be a reaction to something like medication or a change in diet. As for diet, sometimes people find it helpful to reduce their intake of dairy products during the hay-fever season.

I take Allevia, which can be bought from my local supermarkets, or as an Amazon subscription.

No I've not had anything. I get terrible dreams too and do have a few mental health issues but it hasn't worsened anything. Might be worth letting someone know so they can keep an eye on you if you do decide to try it out?

I get very severe hayfever and yes it’s the worst year for allergies. I have a private prescription from an Immunologist but I doubt they are all available on NHS.
