Can’t get rid of thrush

I have bad thrush, due to various issues I have been on antibiotics of various types since January. I’ve just finished two weeks of ciprofloxacin and I can’t shift the thrush! I have had two pessaries in the last 5 days and been using the cream. It’s sore to pee and so irritated.

I have surgery next week to reconstruct my bladder and associated systems and I will have a catheter for a few weeks, I would really like it to be gone before I have that as I can’t stand more irritation than necessary down there! The gp is now closed until Tues. can I try another pessary? They normally work on me but the last one seemed to not dissolve properly and all fell out in one piece in the shower after 24 hours!

The pessaries never work for me.
you can buy a tablet from the chemist - floucozanole

Have you tried oral flucanazole (diflucan one is the brand name)? If so and that doesn’t work then you may want to look into boric acid suppositories.

I didn’t actually know you could still buy flucanozole! I will try this. The pessaries cost a fortune as well and I hate calling my gp to get them prescribed as I’m there often enough as it is

  1. Ask GP/sexual health clinic for a rlv and swab to confirm that it's definitely thrush.

  2. If it is Thrush, ask for 100mg Clotrimazole pessaries once per night for 6 nights. Always put them in last thing before you go to sleep.

  3. Add a Clotrimazole topical cream to the vulva.

Good luck
