If I see GP about period pain, will they just fob me off with BC?

I’ve had excruciating period pain since age 12. That is getting worse with every year.

it is the worst pain I have ever felt. I now cant leave the house in first day, screaming in pain and rolling around on floor blacking out.

i tried many different pain killers, mefenamic acid with paracetamol etc

nothing works much.

I really would like investigations, a scan.

but I’m worried if I see gp they’ll just put me on bc.

i don’t think I can take it because of gene that increases risk of clots, migraines, weight, family history

and the mini pill I’m very worried about depression. As I have been suicidal a year ago and severely depressed.

do you think I could talk gp into doing scan? Maybe something is going on there?

You need to see your doctor with an open mind, they may discuss it as a possibility but they won’t force you, especially if you actually carry a gene (have you been tested?) they won’t refer you unless they have done investigations first, hospitals have set rules of what to do before they accept referrals.
