Chronic cough?

Hi all, hoping for some help for myself. Normally posting about my kids but this time for me! Since before Christmas, I’ve had a horrible cough. The first time it lasted like 3 months (was given antibiotics) which didn’t do anything but eventually settled. Then few weeks later got another cough. Lasted a few weeks then cleared up. Now I’ve got another cough. It’s ruining my life, I know that might sound dramatic but I can’t physically cope with it again. It affects my sleep, it makes bedtimes harder when I have to lie next to my kids until they sleep, I struggle to be in the office and it’s just awful. It tends to come on after a cold but I just feel it’s crazy to have a cough so often! This year I’ve had a cough more days than I haven’t. Just to note, I am not a smoker, rarely drink and am generally healthy. The only medication I take is levothyroxine for my thyroid. Does anyone have advice please? 🙏🏻

You need to see GP ASAP and do some tests, Xray as a min. There are many possible causes ranging from reflux, allergies to lung issues, so you need to establish what's going on and get treatment.

If it comes on after a cold, then it could be the virus that is currently going around. My cough lasted over 2 months after the cold got better.

Having said that, it may be something else in your case, so it will be best to see your GP and get treatment.
