Experiences with Ferrinject?

I've got an iron infusion in 3 weeks on the NHS. I'm getting Ferrinject. I'm really nervous as have read some scary things about side effects and bad reactions etc. But I really need it as I've been iron deficient for over a decade. I have pernicious anaemia / autoimmune gastritis so I can't absorb B12 or iron properly (amongst other things I imagine). I'm in the process of getting my loading doses of B12 injections now, then having the infusion a week after they're finished.

Keen to hear how others experiences with ferrinject went and how to prepare, what the process is like, what to do on the day etc.

I’ve had an iron infusion every year since 2018 (not in the Uk)
Take a kindle or podcast to listen to. Drink water afterwards and have a quiet afternoon.
you will very likely be fine. Occasionally I have had a small headache or metallic taste later in the day
It will make you feel brand new. They are great.

I had an iron infusion back in February. It took about 30 minutes including the pre-infusion checks then I had to stay at the hospital for 30 minutes afterwards to make sure I was okay so I went and got coffee and cake at the cafe.

No immediate side effects but I did feel rubbish for about 24 hours a few days after the infusion. It’s called iron flu and is quite common. I took ibuprofen and paracetamol and had an early night! Was fine the next day.

I've had 3 now -one lot of 2 and a single. They'll calculate based on your weight i think, and how much iron you need, whether it can be done in one go or you need more than one infusion in a set.

Mine were fine. Maybe I felt a bit rubbish, but honestly I was feeling so shite before it! I noticed an improvement in days, especially in my muscles eg going up stairs.

I didn't get any localised staining, but I did change colour. All my life I've been really really pale, but it turns out it was partly just anemia and I'm actually only medium pale! But at first, I did look like I'd done a bad fake tan.

Thank you for the positive replies, I'm really hoping to feel the benefit as I've been feeling crap for a long time now.

I tend to react to the things in a more extreme manner than others so I might ask for a smaller dose.
