Achey legs

I’ve noticed that by the end of the day my legs always feel tired and achey. There is no swelling or redness and it’s a dull tired feeling rather than a sharp pain but it’s noticeable and annoying! I do walk about 10k steps a day and when I’m not working (part time sedentary job) I am on my feet a lot running around after the kids, doing chores and dog walking. I’ve just turned 40 and my dh helpfully says it’s probably just part of ageing. Wondering if I should get bloods checked or if it’s fairly normal.

NO It's not 'part of aging'. It may be part of you, in that we are all individual, but not everyone (or even most) your age would have an issue. However, it may be challenging to get possible causes checked out.

Are you fit and well otherwise? Has it stated suddenly

Do you often wear the same shoes, OP? I ask because I wear the same wellies a lot for work, and my legs can be achy and tired afterwards. It can be worse when I wear other ones. On the worst days, I walk up and down the stairs backwards to stretch my calf muscles out (I read that ballerinas do this, and it seems to work for me!), and put my feet up on the sofa/bed after work.

Ask to have your ferritin levels checked. My legs ached so the GP requested a blood test. My ferritin level was 27. I’m now on iron tablets and much better.

Get your thyroid checked. If my levels are out I get very achey. I genuinely thought I had plantar fasciitis until I found out that I had Hashimotos. The first sign that things are not ok with my med levels is being achey, particularly my feet.
