Just made a Drs appt for my DS (4) cos last night he started complaining of a sore willy. I only saw it this am cos I was at work last night and it is very pink and quite swollen. He won't let anyone touch it. He is weeing ok with no pain. Got Drs at 620pm. Should I be worried?

is his foreskin quite tight do you suppose ?

Bunch · 20/06/2008 11:14

I'm not sure to be honest. Do you think that could be it? I've never been sure when it should be pulled back to clean underneath TBH. Isn't he too young? Does this mean circumcision?

don't panic ! don't try to force it back if it seems tight as he is v young and there doesn't seem to have been any trouble before- the dr will advise..won't mean circumcision I'm sure

ds1 had similar. anti-bs and he was fine - usually caused by too much fiddling and bacteria getting all warm and snuggly under foreskin. (how is his hygiene?!)
we now tell him it will turn blue and fall off if he plays with it. i'm sure we're not scarring him for life. doesn't seem to stop him anyway.

Thank you! I know it seems a trivial problem! I've never tried pulling it back and he won't let me near it at the moment!! Am I a bad mum for not keeping it clean?

He has a bath just about every night BTW.

you could just encourage him to wash it gently and kind of wiggle the skin around a bit to loosen it up, but the doctor advised me not to force anything with ds as you can do damage !!
poor cod - didn't know you had a willy

Romy7 · 20/06/2008 11:20

we let ds1 soap as much as he likes in the bath...
no recurrence.
lol cod, knew it began with b but couldn't remember what the word was...
