How long for verifocal to adapt properly? On essior physio lens (or what they told me) been wearing 1 month solid , but still getting distortion at reading part and sides , especially when sat down, seemed to be clearer outside on a bright day .

There will always be a little distortion if you just move your eyes to the sides tbh. You have to point your nose at what you want to look at.

they may just be the wrong prescription, I had this problem with glasses from Boots.

You should go back and talk to your Opticians. They can check and see if there is any other reason for you to be having trouble adapting eg how your glasses are fitting.
Varifocals come in different designs as well, so the amount of distortion might be less in a different lens - not much help with your current glasses though!

My first pair were misaligned and had to be changed - also from Boots, as it happens.

But yes, move your head not your eyes for a few days and if that doesn’t help, go back to your optician.

I'd go back to the optician. How wide is the viewing area? Asda has a wide area but specsavers offered various widths of viewing area.

I got my 1st varifocals earlier this year from asda (£300 cheaper than specsavers quote!). I walked around the supermarket with them and it did feel odd. They advised not driving home with them on, but I drove fine the next day. I found reading packets took about 2 weeks to get used to. I was used to taking my previous glasses off and holding packets close to read. I now keep my glasses on but hold the pack slightly further away. I'm surprised that I found them fairly easy to swap to compared to some that can't cope at all and return to single focal glasses.
