Has anyone body had almost black discharge from nipple only one breast , have gone through menopause, seen doctor today and on two weeks referral. She thinks its not cancer as no lumps or discoloration. Obviously I am anxious about it. As I had pre cancer lesion removed from rectum 6 months ago.Any feed back welcome.

@Brinny
Im afraid I can’t answer your question but I’m sorry you’re feeling anxious. Hopefully you will get you’re appointment through quickly and get good news.
In the meantime keep posting.

Yes, I’ve had something similar but for both sides and only with a bit of agitation (like if you’re expressing BM), had it for years- Mammary Duct Ectasia.

sorry you’re worried - I hope it’s nothing in your case only. You’ve done the right thing getting checked and fingers crossed for you it’s just duct ectasia. Did you breastfeed dor years? I wonder if it’s something to do with that. I never had it until I gave up breastfeeding.

Yes I did breast my daughter , thankyou for responding, It is worring but I read up on what it could be as no lumps or inverted nipples , so fingers crossed it is or turns out to be what you had, I will let you know when I get the outcome , thank you once again.

I think it's quite common, affecting up to 25% of women who have breastfed. I last breastfed DD3 16 years ago and I can still squeeze a brown fluid from my nipples.

Did the discharge happen spontaneously, or was it a result of clothing/squeezing?

Hopefully you'll get some reassurance at the breast clinic. I used to work in one and they're very good at deciding if there's something sinister within a couple of hours. I've also been through the 2 week wait and as soon as the doctor walked in and felt my lump she said 'Yeah, this isn't cancer. We'll do the ultrasound to confirm it but I'm not worried about this at all.'

Yes I had this. I went through the whole 2 week cancer pathway and then had surgical removal of my milk ducts. It turned out to be duct ectasia as others have said, likely caused by breastfeeding.
Best get out checked out though x
