Which opticians would you recommend?

Which Optician would you recommend?
I need to get new glasses. I have usually gone to Specsavers but detest the sales pressure. 2 for 1, scratch resistant finish, anti glare, etc etc.

I have previously had 2 pairs, one for distance and one for reading but my readers are useless now so must have a big change in prescription this time. I'm thinking of getting varifocals this time so expecting it to be costly without all the added extras.
Wondering about the supermarket opticians (Asda) or Boots. But are they any better than Specsavers. Are the chains cheaper than going to a private optician? Ive not had varifocals before so dont want to make a big costly mistake.

I think it depends on the Specsavers branch. I've used 3 different branches and 2 were not pushy with sales, one was very pushy (and I did not go back).

I originally used an independent who were the pushiest although my mum uses an independent and they've been great so I think its trial and error

I've used Specsavers and Boots and I've stuck with Boots - they have better equipment (well in the major branch I go to, anyway) and altogether seem more professional. I'm very happy with the service and prices there.

I tried Boots last year after years at Specsavers and was really impressed (was for my first varifocals too and they were so good at checking everything thoroughly). It was more expensive but they do offer ongoing help/ changes to varifocals if you're struggling to adjust to them.

I changed to Asda last year, they have been great.

I've used Vision Express, two different independents, and SpecSavers. SpecSavers are by far the best and I have stuck with them. I had no sales pressure at all. It probably depends on the individual branch.
