Dh had his check up

Those of you who have been following dh's medical problems will be happy to hear that he had his check up today and his lymphocyte count is lower than last time!

I realise that his CLL is not going to go away but it is only progressing very, very slowly. So slowly, in fact, that his consultant doesn't want to see him for 6 months (it's been 3 months up to now).

I am so pleased and relieved. Thanks for all the kind thought and positive vibes you have been sending us.

Good news hmb - are they are not treating him?

There is no need for him to be treated as he is totaly without symptoms atm. They only found it while having blood tests done for something elase. He is at the very, very early stage and has no probelms. There is no real cure, short of a transplant (either autologous stem cells or bone marrow) and they only do that when they abosultly have to.

THey can diagnose much earlier now, because of a better understanding of the genetics and markers on the surface of the cell. Dh is being monitored my a specialist unit in London as they have never identified people so early on before.

If he does need a bone marrow transplant his brother is a perfect match.

So we are an a watch and wait schedule. And things look good so far as he has made very little 'progress' over the last year.

The pisser is that he has just been given the 10 year all clear from another, unrelated cancer
