Tonsillitis, again

BlueberryPancakes17 · 03/04/2026 20:01

I’ve got tonsillitis for the second time in 3 weeks. I used to have tonsillitis a lot as a child and teenager, and also went through a period of having it very badly and frequently for a few years as an adult. It seemed to bugger off for over a year up until the bout 3 weeks ago. Has anyone tried anything which has helped stave it off? Grateful for people’s experiences of tonsillitis as an adult and anything that has helped them please 🙏🏻

Gargling with salt water every night.

Following as I'm in the same boat. I've had it (strep a) 6 times in the last year. I spoke to my GP about it this week, so I'm waiting for some blood tests now. I'm in my 40s. I just don't know where I'm picking it up from.

@Abbeeethanks, I’ll give that a go. I gargle when I have the tonsillitis but not every night when I don’t have it.

@Alwaystired23oh lord that sounds awful, sorry you’ve dealt with it 6 times in the year. Hopefully the bloods might rule out any vitamin deficiencies. Did you have it a lot as a child?

I recommend propolis. The purest the better!

@Lullabycrickets23ooh very interesting, I hadn’t heard of this. Thanks
