Breast milk fortifier - digestive issues?

My baby was born at 30+1 so was put on breast milk fortifier. Her due date was yesterday and she’s now 10 weeks old. Her weight gain has been brilliant. I want to stop the fortifier because my gut is telling me it’s what’s causing the following symptoms:

-constipation
-gas and trapped wind
-constant stomach discomfort
-very small infrequent poos
-not being able to take more than 2oz feeds but is feeding every 1.5-2 hours because she’s hungry

Before I trust my instincts and tell the NICU outreach nurses I’m taking her off it, has anyone experienced similar symptoms with a preterm baby on fortifier?

Sorry I haven’t but that frequency of feeding at new born age is normal? Exhausting but normal. Are you expressing and then bottle feeding?

BF babies take on average 25 Floz in 24 hours so taking 2 Floz then wanting feeding again soon isn’t a symptom of anything wrong unfortunately, it’s just normal baby behaviour.

Are you due to see a HCP soon and coukd you discuss with them about stopping the fortifier?

Sorry should have added that it might be worth asking in the Premature Section which I think is under Being A Parent. You’re bound to get some more replies in there Wink
