Elevated liver enzymes normal ultrasound

So pretty depressing that I seem to have had a few repeat elevated mildly liver enzyme levels. This came out of routine blood tests to get HRT

I have now had normal iron, HBA1C, Thyroid, B12 and B9 ( folate) tests. So I now have to go back for a further appointment to discuss next steps. I only drank modestly - now zero alcohol for 2.5 months and I’m vegetarian so eat relatively well.

Any ideas what might be going on? I’m feeling a bit stressed.

i hate doctors and basically do anything not to have to go near one. The routine appointment to see a doctor is in May. I am generally fit at aged 60 but do get minor IBS and have to avoid too much processed foods as I get stomach upsets etc

What sort of levels are you talking? Which enzymes and what ratio? Normal US is very positive though.

Ask to be tested for coeliac disease. Raised liver enzymes is a known symptom and your IBS may also be coeliac disease instead.

I get this, normal liver ultrasounds but milldly elevetated ggt and AST and another I can’t remember. Don’t drink.
Some drs put it down to medications others say those meds don’t cause it. Either way it is frustrating not knowing but I get regular checks and so far they have just stayed the same and liver still ok on ultrasound and it’s been this way at least 3 years.

I have had elevated ALT caused by very low Vit D. Levels returned to normal after loading doses .
