Anyone in Northern Ireland waiting weeks for a breast scan referral?

Anyone else in Northern Ireland alarmed at the waiting list for breast scanning referral? Found a lump 2 weeks ago, went straight to GP and she sent referral through immediately. Rang the referral unit today and was told the waiting time is approx 6 weeks for a red flag appointment. I've barely scraped through the past 2 weeks and still have a full month to go. I feel like my life is on hold.

I waited 10 weeks on a red flag referral last September - longest 10 weeks of my life

I tried to go private - 9 weeks

Even going to Scotland or Dublin - privately - 8 to 12 weeks

The lists are so long so many are now jumping on to private and so their lists are backing up

Im southern trust, and was told it would be closer to 12 weeks last autumn

I tried private in ni and it was the same wait time (long explanations were given about one of the consultants being sick themselves and their patients were redistributed)

I went to Edinburgh. Booked on the Monday, flew over on Thursday and all sorted. For me, the cost was worth it.

Finally got my appointment through for end of April which will be a 6 week wait from referral. Thanks all.

Just a quick update. My lump was indeed cancer and I'm due to start chemo next week.
