feel very silly asking as its something so little - but my dd (14 weeks) is in the throes of her first cold / cough. She isnt feeding very much - is this normal? She also has been vomiting during the feed (isnt a sicky baby).. I'm just checking all this is standard with a cough and cold?? Also - we are flying to spain tomorrw - i presume its okay to take her on the plane still? I'm planning to breastfeed her during take off to try and make it a bit more comfortable for her.

Any advice appreciated - thanks experienced mumsnetters!

Oh it's horrible when they get their 1st one! I found propping up the head end of cot could help a bit with naps.

If she is very mucus-y this might be causing the vomiting, or else if her nose is blocked she may just be struggling to work out breathing and feeding at same time!

It all sounds pretty standard to me, but I'm sure GP wouldn't mind checking her over to make sure. (ask him to check ears too.)

I also used a "nasal aspirator" on mine - like a bulb thing you squeeze, put other end in nostril and release the bulb and it sucks out a satisfying load of snot - not sure it really did much but 'twas very good fun and seemed to make them more comfy for a while!

As far as flight goes, at that age mine were lulled to sleep by movement and engine pretty well. The feeding is more important during descent as it helps equalise ear pressure.
