I’ve never had an ear infection in my life but I think I might have one 😭full of a nasty cold and my ear has gone rock hard at the back. Slightly itchy inside and feels sore. I didn’t know it could hurt round the back is that normal? Even my kids have never had one so I have no idea
im not worried I just don’t want to waste a doctors time or know if I’m being a big baby!

Poor you. If you are really worried about a doc appointment you can see a pharmacist who does the pharmacy first scheme. They can treat earache - someone else may be able to clarify if they can give antibiotics for it. (I don't know).

That can happen with a bad cold.If it gets worse or you get fever or discharge, see a doctor.

A pharmacist should be able to diagnose and treat a simple ear infection (either watch and wait or otomise ear spray) but their diagnostic skills vary greatly 😬

Pharmacies can only prescribe antibiotics for an ear infection to those 17 and under. It might still be worth a visit for a chat with the pharmacist, but you would need a GP to prescribe antibiotics if they are needed.
