Waiting for breast clinic biopsy results after unclear ultrasound findings

Last week I went to the breast clinic for a “lumpy” area in my breast, I felt like it got lumpier and tender before my periods then shrank back down. But it had been on my mind a lot and I couldn’t shake the worry so I eventually persuaded the GP to refer me.

I went off to the clinic expecting them to agree with the Dr that it’s just hormonal and to carry on, but after doing an ultrasound they couldn’t identify “it” and opted to do a biopsy.

The nurse at the end said they’re “not really worried” and just need to identify it, but I am SPIRALLING. It’s only been 3 days and it’s all I can think about. She said I may get a call or an appointment, neither means good or bad news, so now I’m just on edge waiting for anything. It could be another 2 weeks to wait, so I guess I’m just looking for some company in the meantime if anyone else is also waiting on results?

It's hard isn't it?

I'm waiting results of a womb biopsy. DP keeps saying if it was bad, I'd have heard by now. But it really doesn't work like that.

I keep mentally rewriting my will. Idiotic I know.

I can't offer much help really, maybe remind yourself of the stats for this stage and your age. The odds are definitely on our side!

@Negroany I’m so sorry to hear you’re also waiting for results, I feel like it’s completely consumed me! How long ago was your biopsy? I’ve still probably got another 7-10 days to go until my results 🫣

It was Monday last week. I thought I would have heard by now. But, no, I got a Notice of Intended Prosecution for speeding in the post instead!

DP posted his mum's mother's day card Tue last week and it hadn't arrived by Sunday. So I don't have much faith in the post right now.

I should hear this week. Statistically I'm very likely to be fine. It's my fifth go on the two-week pathway though (all different things) and I said to dp "it's got to stick eventually" (infinite monkey theory). And I'm still bleeding.....

Hope yours comes soon, the waiting is the worst part (as far as I know. So far!).

i hope this helps - this is not really how a typical cancer diagnosis goes. They’re immediately suspicious and often say so. This is caution, imo, over something probably benign

It does. The rational part of my brain knows they wouldn’t have used the language or tone that they did, but it’s the uncertainty of it all still. Fingers crossed for results soon.

I hope you hear back soon and it all comes back ok again this time 🤞🏼

Had my results… radial scar. It’s small, only 9mm and the biopsy shows benign cells. However they want to remove it and send the whole thing off for testing to be certain there are no atypical cells lurking. Feeling grateful to know what it is, but fed up that I’m stuck on this waiting cycle a bit longer…

Good luck for the next stage!

Biopsy benign. So, that's good. Still bleeding though.

So pleased to hear it’s benign! I hope the bleeding stops soon x
