Trying to quit smoking

Right, I'm about 6wks pg with dc#2 and would really like to give up smoking this time. I tried with ds but couldn't manage it. Awful I know, but now there's so many more reasons

  1. Obviously coz I'm pg

  2. It takes me away from ds numerous times a day

  3. Would hate for dc's to smoke when older

  4. I smell!

  5. The cost of living is now so high, I don't think I can afford to smoke

So, I went to dr and got an inhalator, anyone else quit like this? Does it work? Will I gag and choke everytime I take a puff?

Oh, and haven't you got to continue to smoke whilst you read it? Or was my friend just making excuses?!

Good luck Littleboyblue. Get through the first three days and it all gets so much better after that.

littleboyblue · 18/06/2008 07:31

Thanx. I'm really nervous!! I've got 1 fag in a drawer, thinking I should either smoke it or throw it away.

How are you getting on with quitting? I managed to give up when I was pregnant, but started smoking again recently. Desperate for me and DH to quit but life's v. stressfull and need help!

Has anyone gone to a local stop smoking group or pharmacy advisor? I've heard they give you Xyban and Champix, but don't know much about it....

Any suggestions/advice welcome!

Not too good tbh! Touch and go, good days and bad. The longest I went was 3 days!
Haven't tried support groups or anything, would be too nervous

once you stop smoking you will realise howw revolting it smells on other people, and you will be horrified that you smelt that ay when snuggling your lovely children.

i smoked before i had dc no.1 and stopped whilst pregnant and started occassionally again when he was about 12wks old stopped again when preg. with no.2 and didn't start again and so have not smoked now for about 2yrs. i didn't start again because i knew that i couldn't limit myself to having the occassional cigarette whilst having a drink. to be honest no one else i know smokes and i wouldn't fancy hanging around outside a ub either anymore. also i i wake up with a hangover i don't feel as ill as i used to hen i had smoked loads.

also i had a mc between no1 and 2 and hen i was trying again for second baby didn't want any poisons in my bloodstream.

good luck.....think of all the money you will save and how lovely you will smell...buy lovely perfumes with the new found wealth
