Ear pain and pulsing

Does anyone have any experience with this as Google can be pretty scary and my GP appointment isn't until next week.

Day before yesterday inside my right ear felt a bit painful, itchy and wet sensation inside. I usually have problem with excess earwax so I thought it was that. Then last night I woke up with a heartbeat pulsing/whoosing sound in my right ear which seemed to go on all night, accompanied by some mild pain inside. This morning the sound has gone and the pain is much much less.

My question is does this sound like pulsatile tinnitus? Google talks about blood vessel issues etc. My average BP is low/normal. Or does this sound more like an ear infection/wax issue. I have bad HA so please be gentle...

It sounds exactly like pulsating tinnitus from my experience of the same (no medical expertise). I had a period of loss of balance, ear ache and more ear wax which seemed to clear up then PT started and was keeping me awake at night. In my case it was an ear infection and it cleared up almost immediately with prescription ear drops from the nurse practitioner at my surgery. I notice that for the last year I seem to be much more vulnerable to ear wax build up so I’ve had it temporarily again since. Worth a trip to the GP. I agree Google is scary so best off going to the GP to check for infection.

I’ve had PT for three years. MRI clear. ENT dismissed it as hearing loss, private ENT said nothing wrong with my hearing. No idea of the cause, i feel completely fine but it is annoying. I can tell you my heart rate just by listening.

I get PT temporarily if I’ve had a bad stuffy cold or sinus infection or an ear infection. For me it clears up when the illness goes away but can be several weeks.

Fluids, hot drinks, hot water bottle may help

It sounds like my PT. It always seems worse when I am struggling with allergies, got a cold or chest/throat thing, or when I am really knackered.

Thanks all. I don't have a cold or allergies but I won't know if I have an ear infection until I see the GP next week. However I don't have fever or ear discharge so not sure if this is an infection.
I was fine all day yesterday (no pulsing at all) but the pulsing started up again late last night in the same ear. What I also noticed is my right ear would pop a bit more and everytime it did, the inside of my ear would hurt.
I still feel mild pain inside my right ear this morning.
