Liver scarring

I had surgery yesterday and the surgeon found that I had scarring on my liver (unrelated to the reason for surgery). He said I didn’t need to do anything about it. He thought it was caused by chemo as I’ve had cancer but I didn’t have chemo. I didn’t ask much at the time as had just woken up.

I don’t understand why I would have this. I’m 37, don’t drink much and never have, have a low bmi, reasonably healthy diet, no family history. I have been taking high strength iron for a long time for anaemia and was severely anaemic before that which I’d guess could do damage.

Does anyone have experience of this? Or know what if anything I should do about it? I’ll ask the surgeon for more info but he’s not a liver specialist.

Go to your GP & ask, or ask the surgeon to refer you to the liver team or gastroenterology.
