Migraine symptoms - or something else?

Hello everyone, I’m new to this site but have been regularly checking in on various conservations in the past, and have found your chats incredibly informative. I was hoping that someone out there could now help me with something my GP seems unable to (no surprise there).

I’m perimenopausal and suffer from migraines and auras, but at the end of January I had a particularly bad one with symptoms I’ve never experienced before. Some days before it presented itself I was brushing my hair and noticed that my scalp felt very tender, painful even with the slightest touch and thought maybe it was because I’d had my hair up all day. Then this was followed by neck pain the next day and then the migraine itself with usual one sided pain, chills and vomiting. But unlike other times, this headache cause extreme ear pressure and when I spoke my voice sounded robotic. I had extreme noise sensitivity that I couldn’t bear to listen to the TV. The ear pressure continued but when that subsided after a week, I’ve now developed a low engine noise in my head, that seems to get quieter then rev up again, still with noise sensitivity. When I spoke to my GP she seemed more concerned that she thought I was going to kill myself and I had to spend half an hour on the phone convincing her otherwise, all because I said I couldn’t take the noise anymore! She seemed to think it was caused by anxiety and offered a hearing test.

If anyone has experienced this or has any ideas I’d be very grateful for your thoughts.

Have you heard of temporal arteritis? Inflammation of the lining of blood vessels. Have a google, see if you think your symptoms might fit maybe

@ChocHotolate Oh yes! My friend suffers from that, but it’s a continuous, unilateral, temporal headache which I don’t have.
