Has anyone ever recovered from this please? Whenever I do any kind of light exercise it just flares up. Obviously really need to keep fit. Thank you!

I have hip pain too. I've just been to see a physiotherapist on the NHS and he told me it's GTPS, not bursitis. Apparently, GTPS gets misdiagnosed as busitis a lot (my GP told me he thought it was bursitis). This YouTube video explains lots more about it and gives some advice about how to manage the condition

But if the pain is really bad (like mine) go to your GP and get a referral to a physiotherapist.

I can't say I've recovered yet though! I'm now being referred to get a programme of exercises from a physio. If that doesn't work within 6 months, they may consider shock therapy, which encourages the tendon to repair itself quicker... So fingers crossed!

I had/have it. It was awful for months. I ended up paying to see a private physio who gave me exercises that I did religiously 3 times a week. Went back after 4 weeks and it had improved a lot so had different exercises for another 4 weeks. After that I was able to start running again in very short bursts and build up very slowly and it’s been great. I still do strengthening exercises twice a week (when I remember) as I worry about it happening again. Still get the off niggle which is a great reminder.

Yes I have recovered wirh the help of Physio. In sone areas, like ours, you can self refer to the Physiotherapy Service so no need to go back to the GP if you can do this.

I had bursitis in my hip for almost a year. I did the exercises from my physio and I also stopped sleeping on that side. It helped a lot.

I always seem to end up in my side. I did sleep with a knee pillow for a while but seem to have got out of the habit.
