Do you think he could be lacking in something?

Someone said perhaps he is lacking in zink?

zinc maybe ?

mummyrayjay · 15/06/2008 20:12

how do they test to see if babies are lacking in zink? is it blood tests?

is he teething, it could be the metal is cold and soothing. How on earth is he getting hold of batteries?

mummyrayjay · 15/06/2008 21:01

yes he has been teething from 4months.

He bangs the tv remote control to get them out, or can get them out of my cordless phone. As much as we try to keep them out of the way he finds a way...

Put them on high shelf, u can get a shock from batteries.

MsDemeanor · 15/06/2008 21:27

Just don't let him chew batteries! Honestly...

christywhisty · 15/06/2008 23:26

sounds like you've got a little engineer on your hands

zippitippitoes · 15/06/2008 23:28

batteries are dangerous

take care

they are considered an item that should have special dispoasdal

Rhubarb · 15/06/2008 23:29

Sorry but gaffa tape all your gadgets that have batteries. Batteries are well dodgy.

Desiderata · 15/06/2008 23:32

He could be anaemic. My mother had an urge for such things when she was pregnant with me.

mummyrayjay · 15/06/2008 23:32

Yes I know batteries are not for babies, I do my best to keep them out of the way and I have just put cellotape on my remote.

I used to love metally tastes when I was a child - i remember at 5 or 6 craving metal. I don't know if I was deficient in zinc, maybe I just liked the taste?

Rhubarb · 15/06/2008 23:32

cellotape not enough, you need gaffa tape. He'll get the cellotape off in no time.

Rhubarb · 15/06/2008 23:34

Incidentally, mine licks windows (no pun intended there), shopping trolleys, chairs, walls, doors etc. There isn't anywhere he's been that hasn't been left with a dribble of saliva thanks to ds. I put it down as a phase, or being orally fixated, not a deficiency.

zippitippitoes · 15/06/2008 23:35

licking windows is quite common i think

zippitippitoes · 15/06/2008 23:36

keys are of corse ver popular

sushistar · 15/06/2008 23:36

Mmm, probably a glass deficiency

zippi - he kisses shoes too. Of random people.

zippitippitoes · 15/06/2008 23:39

and mercury batteries can be fatal

kidding aside

you ned to make them unavailable

mummyrayjay · 15/06/2008 23:40

rhubarb - how old is dc? sounds funny (apart from the germs he might collect)

And he always has his mouth round something. Always. Orally fixated. He was spitting into his glass today in a restaurant and then drinking it.

mummyrayjay · 15/06/2008 23:52

Oh no, I was hoping ds wold stop utting things in is mouth at some stage, sounds like it gets worse
