Heart palpitations

I've been having really bad heart palpitations all day. Really hard and quick thuds, so hard they stop me in my tracks. I have had epuosed of these before and was checked out and told they were ventricular ectopics beats that were benign. I'm working myself into such a panic about it, that something is wrong. Anyone had them and it's beeb fine? It's making me so anxious. I am quite stressed and emotional at the moment.

Ectopic beats are really frightening. I had them once for a few days, stress, lack of sleep and a bit too much caffeine seemed to have been the trigger. They are harmless but they feel horrible, so I sympathise. Get your GP to have a listen, I was having that huge thud every eight beats. Hopefully your GP can check you over and reassure you.

Do see your GP, I was given a holter monitor to wear for 24 hours and there was nothing of any concern. It's pretty frightening though, and I've since found that caffeine makes them worse so I only drink decaff tea/coffee. And I take a vitamin B and D supplement daily.

I had a holter monitor done a couple years ago when I had a really bad episode. I've been having them again almost every night when I'm laid in bed for the last few weeks. And then all day today. I think they will be reluctant to do another after they've already investigated a couple years ago.

I had them a few years ago during COVID. Was told anxiety, stress, menopause etc etc, then went into fast AF and ended up in resus and subsequently needed an ablation. I’m on HRT now, bloods are fine, on beta blockers and still get them. A recent holter showed around 400 ectopic beats in 24 hours which they said was unconcerning. I do get days with lots more than that, had them whilst writing this, but I ignore them now.

I get these if I drink too much

Are you menopausal by any chance? I get these too and they are really unnerving. I find drinking water helps. I always feel worse when I am stressed or unwell. A doctor told me that it’s more worrying when the heart is beating more than 100 beats a minute.

I used to have this horribly when my iron was low. I should say it was my ferratin level (iron stores) that were borderline low. I had to go back loads and was told many times I couldn't be anemic because my hemoglobin was fine. It was only through looking through the blood results myself that I found it. Ferrous fumarate sorted me out after a few months.
