Ibuprofen and apixaban?

Hello. Been prescribed apixaban today as a precaution (raised d dimer result, scans booked to check chest and legs tomorrow in case of clots). I took 400mg Ibuprofen at lunchtime (around 1) and have just read i shouldn't take the 2 concurrently.

Anyone know if I'm safe to take the apixaban with my evening meds around 8pm? It's 10mg.

Thanks in advance.

I would think that the risk of missing apixaban is higher than the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding from taking ibuprofen while on it.
Phone the pharmacy number on your apixaban box and ask their advice.

Thanks @fishfingerbutty, you're right of course. Have taken them now and will stick to paracetamol for the time being.

Glad all well.
Be sure to read the patient information leaflet in your tablet box as there’s quite a few precautions to take when on apixaban.
Hope your scans go well.

Unfortunately there was no leaflet in the box which surprised me. I looked it up on the BNF though and that was helpful. Dad's been on another 'ban' one for years so I'm kind of used to the precautions. It hadn't been prescribed when I took the ibuprofen earlier.
Thanks that's kind.

I've taken ibuprofen alongside my apixaban a few times with no negative consequences. Just single doses, like before i went for a coil change when I wanted to go prepared with both paracetamol and ibuprofen in my system.
I don't think one dose is going to be a problem, just don't take it routinely.
